Why Use FolderWorks™ Templates?

Using the correct template is essential for:

  • Proper alignment with die lines and folds.

  • Avoiding production delays due to incorrect file setup.

  • Ensuring your final product looks exactly as intended.

7 Tips for Submitting Print-Ready Artwork

1. Use the Correct Template

Always select the template that matches the exact product style and size you’re ordering.

2. Keep Die Lines and Folds Visible (but Non-Printable)

Die lines and fold indicators should remain in your file for reference, but must be placed on a non-printing layer.

3. Bleed Area

Extend background colors and images at least ⅛” beyond the trim line to ensure full coverage after cutting.

4. Safe Zone

Keep all important text and graphics at least ⅛” inside the trim line to avoid accidental cropping.

5. Resolution & Color Mode

Use 300 dpi resolution and CMYK color mode for print-ready artwork.

6. Flatten Transparencies & Outline Fonts

This helps prevent unexpected changes during the production process. Before submitting a final, print-ready file, Outline fonts to convert them into vector shapes and avoid font compatibility issues during printing. Once fonts are outlined, the text is no longer editable, so when sending editable PDFs or shared design drafts, Embed the fonts instead. Embedding fonts ensures the text remains editable and reduces printing issues by eliminating the need for original font files.

7. Remove Template Guides Before Submission

Double-check that all non-printing elements (guides, instructions, etc.) are removed or placed on a hidden layer before submitting your final file.
